Dr. Oza was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He received his BS in biomedical engineering from Louisiana Tech University where he graduated with a Cum Laude distinction. During his time as an engineer for the VA hospital in Little Rock, AR, he also worked evenings as a math instructor for Sylvan Learning Center. It was then he began to find an interest in teaching.
After a short lived career in engineering, he decided to pursue dentistry. He chose the LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans for his dental education where he received his DDS. After graduating from dental school in 2003, he decided to further his dental education by doing a general practice residency at the VA Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi where he gained a great deal of experience in oral surgery, prosthodontics, and geriatric dentistry.
He had a private practice in Baton Rouge, LA from 2008-2013 and spent several Fridays per month teaching sophomore dental students at the LSU Dental School. Getting the opportunity to teach dental students was very rewarding and he knew that he would like to teach more in the future.
In 2014, he and Dr. Luong decided to practice together and bought Advanced Dental Concepts in Hammond, LA. Dr. Oza enjoys practicing general dentistry during the day at Advanced Dental Concepts and teaching dental assistants in the evening and on Fridays at Southeast Academy of Dental Assisting.
“It’s a very rewarding feeling to see someone learn something new and become good at it.” – Dr. Neil Oza
In his free time, Dr. Oza enjoys playing the guitar, violin, drums, piano, volunteering, and playing tennis. He believes in giving back to the community and his dental profession. He served as the treasurer for the Greater Baton Rouge Dental Association for more than three years.
Our classes are taught not only by an assistant, but, also two private practice dentists. Hence, our students get to learn what a dentist wants from a great assistant and they’re taught from an assistant on how to deliver what the dentist wants. All of our classes take place in the dental office.Jazz
